The University of West Georgia’s A DAY campaign raised $459,304 bringing the total amount of money and donations to date in 2008 to $2,209,925. UWG faculty and staff contributed more than $106,000 for the campaign breaking last year’s record of $104,000.
A DAY, now in its 26th year, is an annual campaign that raises money to fund scholarships, undergraduate research and faculty and staff development. Beginning in August, A DAY volunteers from the community and the campus work together to make the campaign a success.
This year, campaign volunteers from Carroll and Haralson Counties, Villa Rica, Bowdon, Newnan and Bremen donated their time to make the campaign a success. A DAY annual events include the A Night for A DAY, the A DAY Music Faculty Concert, the FNBG Run for A DAY and the A DAY Breakfast and Victory Celebration.
A DAY is a vital part of UWG’s Annual Fund, which accepts donations throughout the year. More than 90 percent of undesignated Annual Fund dollars go toward supporting student scholarships with the remaining dollars designated to fund programs and services that have the greatest impact and need.
