Hundreds of walkers and runners and a few friendly dogs enjoyed the 26th annual First National Bank of Georgia Run for A DAY on the University of West Georgia campus.
Linda Picklesimer, A DAY race director for a decade, was pleased with the turnout.
“The Run for A DAY is successful because of the wonderful support both from the campus and the community,” said Picklesimer. “The race has grown because of that support. It is always a highlight of the A DAY campaign.”
In the 5K A DAY Run overall male and female categories, Tyler Woodard won with an 18:32 run time and Angie Slappey won with a 19:25 run time. Male and female winners in the Master category were Scott Carlson with a run time of 19:36 and Hilde Thomas with a run time of 24:07. Grandmaster Male winner was Tom Horihan with a run time of 20:44 and Grandmaster Female winner was Mary Ann Taylor at a run time of 23:24.
The A DAY for West Georgia campaign raises money for student scholarships, faculty and staff development programs and undergraduate research. The FNBG sponsors the A DAY race by financing all expenses, making it possible to donate all race registration fees toward the Annual Fund.
