An opening reception to meet the artists will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11.  The event and reception are free and the community is invited to attend.

A sticker and stencil graffiti show, “the grey area,” was curated by UWG photography majors Katie Wright and Laura Barnes.

“We wish to continue the ongoing exploration of graffiti as an art medium,” Barnes said. “And explore its place in the gallery setting.”

It is the first gallery show that is completely organized and set up by students but not the first for Barnes and Wright. Both students have helped set up shows and have exhibited their work in museums, cultural arts centers and at UWG.

“We feel as if the issue of graffiti is no longer just a black and white topic,” said Wright. “This show may change the definition of graffiti or of art itself.”
