The annual event begins at 7 p.m. with a freshman student march to the UWG Flame of Knowledge.

Students on the traditional march will light the flame that burns throughout the year to symbolize a commitment to higher education and to their academic career.

The celebration continues in Love Valley with performances by the award-winning UWG marching band, “The Sound that Lights the South” and Travelin’ Max in the Travelin’ Max Show.

Cotton candy and funnel cakes will help stave off hunger as new students get acquainted and returning students catch up on old news.  Dramatic fireworks will finish the celebration at dusk.
