The University of West Georgia Police Department announced that an arrest was made on May 8 for an arson that occurred in a campus residence hall, Downs Hall, on February 13.

Joshua B. Luster, student from Powder Springs, was taken into custody after evidence taken from his room was processed at the State Crime Lab and the results showed a link between Luster and the fire.  Luster served as a resident assistant in the hall

According to University Police Chief Tom Mackel, three additional fires in the same residence hall are still under investigation.
University Police worked in conjunction with the City of Carrollton Fire Department in the investigation.
