The musical talent from the Department of Music at the University of West Georgia is known far and wide. Throughout the U.S., students from UWG have traveled and performed, proving their musical abilities and showing the academic excellence instilled into each student.
Five students under the direction of Dr. Carol Gingerich, associate professor of music, will be traveling to Alabama to perform a series of
three concerts in a piano concert tour for the community.
The concerts will take place in the city of Helfin on Thursday, May 1, at Cleburne County High School, Cleburne County Elementary School and the Heflin Arts Council. Selections for all performances will range from music by Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Debussy.
The student performers are from countries around the world including Korea and Haiti. Performers for the events will include Yaeju Bin of Seoul, Korea; Laura English of Bremen; Hans Regis of Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Brittany Scott of Atlanta; and Harold Walbert of Lithia Springs.
Funding for the concert tour is being provided by the Heflin Arts Council and UWG Department of Music.
