The University of West Georgia will present a special concert performed by the Globe Saxophone Quartet and the UWG Saxophone Ensemble on Tuesday, April 15, at 8:15 p.m. in the Kathy Cashen Recital Hall. The event is free and the community is invited to attend.

Both groups have been invited to perform at the International Biennial Meeting of the North American Saxophone Alliance at the University of South Carolina.  The  concert will showcase the selections that will be performed at the conference.

The quartet features the excellent talents of musicians from four universities.  Members of the group include Dr. Rhett Bender, associate professor of music, Southern Oregon University; Dr. Jennifer Turpen, professor of music theory, and Dr. Scott Turpen, associate professor of music, University of Wyoming; and Dr. John Bleuel, associate professor of music at UWG.

The UWG Saxophone Ensemble, directed by Bleuel, boasts the best saxophonists on campus who range from music majors to faculty, staff and alumni. The ensemble has performed in many venues, including the Carrollton Artist Guild Fine Arts Mecca Festival and the annual Saxophone and Percussion Symposium at UWG.
