The Advanced Academy of Georgia at the University of West Georgia is sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, April 12, from 1 – 6 p.m. at the Honors College on Maple Street. The event is free and the community is invited to participate in this life saving opportunity.
The Academy has promised at least 55 participants and coordinators of event ask that donors register in advance.
Qualifications for donors include being at least 17 years old, weighing at least 110 pounds and having not donated blood in the last eight weeks or donated double red cells in the last 16 weeks. Minors must have parental permission and the form can be obtained through the Academy’s office.
Since its founding in 1881, the American Red Cross has been the nation’s premier emergency response organization. The organization specializes not only in collection, processing and distribution of blood, but also in international relief and development programs, educational programs for health and safety and community services that help the needy.
