Opera fans won’t want to miss the spring production of the UWG Opera Workshop’s presentation of “Cosi fan tutte” on Thursday, March 6, and Saturday, March 8, at 8:15 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts at the University of West Georgia.
Considered one of the greatest operatic masterpieces ever, “They (Women) All Do It” is the last opera written and composed by Mozart before his untimely death in 1791. The comedic and bawdry production explores the issues of trust in relationships between males and females and will be sung in English, with full period costumes and scenery designed by professional guest artists.
Directed by Dr. Larry Frazier, professor of music, and accompanied on a Boesendorfer Grand Piano by Dr. Joel Williams, the evening promises to be one of great entertainment. The cast includes guest baritone Philip Jones, a UWG alumnus, and voice and music majors Rose Blanchard of Austell; Andrea Pearson of Woodstock; Nandani Persaud of Dalton; Jeff Orme of Douglasville; Joseph Bryan of Cataula; Lindsey Rhodes of White; and Jessica Sheffield of McDonough.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for county and city students, $3 for children 12 and under and free for UWG students with ID. TCPA box office hours are Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, call the TCPA at 678-839-4722.
