The 2008 Floyd Hoskins Great Decisions series will be held Thursdays, Feb. 7 – March 27, and will feature UWG faculty members who experts in their fields. Admission is free and the community is invited to attend.
The Great Decisions is a program of the Foreign Policy Association and has been sponsored by the Carroll County League of Women Voters for 15 years. The event will take place in the Rotary Room at the Community Activities Center on White Street.
The dates and moderators for the eight foreign policy programs in the series are: Feb. 7, “Iraq End-Game” by Dr. Y. Lynn Holmes; Feb. 14, “European Union at 50” by Dr. Heather Mbaye, assistant professor of political science, UWG; Feb. 21, “Talking to Our Enemies” by Dr. Robert Schaefer, professor and chair of political science, UWG; Feb. 28, “Russia” by Dr. Elaine MacKinnon, professor of history, UWG; March 6, “U.S. Defense and Security Policy” by Dr. John Duffield, professor of political science, Georgia State University; March 13, “Latin America: Shift to the Left?” by Dr. Gary Van Valen, assistant professor of history, UWG; March 20, “U.S. – China Trade Policy” by Dr. Leland Gustafson, professor of economics, and Dr. Salvador Lopez, lecturer in economics, UWG; and March 27, “Private Philanthropy” by Dr. Andrew J. Leavitt, associate vice president for Development and Alumni Relations and executive director of the UWG Foundation, Inc., UWG.
