Ron Richards has joined the University of West Georgia as the director of internal audit.
He comes to UWG after 28 years in corporate positions, nearly 14 of which have been in internal audit management, most recently as the internal audit director – Americas for Travelport, a $2.4 billion provider of travel technology. He is a certified public accountant and certified internal auditor with experience in all facets of the audit process. At previous positions he led audits and was involved in business activities throughout the globe, including South Korea, Indonesia, China, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States.
He has been active in preparing prior companies for compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, as well as the payment card industry – Data Security Standard. Richards has been an agent of positive change and believes strongly in the value of a good business relationship between audit and operations/management.
He is active in a variety of civic organizations including Boys Scouts of America and the Lassiter High School Band Boosters Association.
