The University of West Georgia will be an integral part of Carroll’s Fourth of July Celebration.
Tommy Cox, the director of UWG’s School of the Arts, will emcee the 2012 Sounds of Liberty concert on the lawn of Carrollton City Schools. Larry Frazier, retired professor of opera, will sing an Armed Forces salute, a medley of songs for the Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Air Force.
He will be accompanied by the Carroll Symphony Orchestra, which will also play a series of patriotic and American tunes. Terry Lowry will conduct.
The Evening Sertoma Club will give the Community Spirit Award for best float in the Independence Day parade. The program will begin at 8:15 p.m. and will be followed by fireworks.
