The University of West Georgia welcomed key project and community leaders, faculty, staff and students to the official ribbon cutting ceremony for Center Pointe Suites, UWG’s new 600-bed residence complex, on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
“We initiated the master planning process some years ago to plot the path for the future of West Georgia’s campus,” said Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, president of UWG. “Then, as now, it took the input and combined effort of scores of our constituents and partners to shape and grow UWG into the destination university it is today.”
“Now, in this my 19th and final year as President, and I can proudly state that with the opening of Center Pointe Suites we offer the most modern of campus living to our students today and well into the future,” said Sethna.

The 150,000 sq. ft. facility is a public-private venture between the University of West Georgia and the UWG Real Estate Foundation. The $18 million cost of construction was funded by a revenue bonds issued through a partnership with the Carrollton Payroll Development Authority.
