The University of West Georgia congratulates Jami Bower, assistant vice president for University Communications and Marketing, for winning the Georgia Education Advancement Council’s “Outstanding Newcomer Award” at its fall conference. Bower is the maestro responsible for UWG’s award-winning “Go West” campaign.
The “Outstanding Newcomer Award” is a peer-chosen award given to someone who has served less than 5 years in the education advancement field; demonstrated quality performance and potential for leadership in the field of higher education advancement; and made specific professional contributions that have earned the notice of their colleagues.
Bower joined UCM in March 2010 and is responsible for planning and implementation of all marketing and communications, branding and graphic design efforts for UWG.
"I am honored that the work achieved by our staff, marketing partner Mindpower and campus ambassadors has been recognized by our GEAC colleagues,” said Bower. “The Go West brand articulation has provided a solid anchor for differentiating UWG, elevating our reputation, telling our success stories and bolstering school spirit."
“Jami's outstanding leadership in working with the Mindpower Advertising Group to create the "Go West" branding campaign has resulted in a dramatic increase in the public's awareness of the University and its enrollment growth,” said Bill Estes, vice president for University Advancement. “She has worked tirelessly to implement the campaign in addition to taking on leadership roles on campus and with the University System of Georgia. Her contributions to the University of West Georgia and to the System have been exemplary and she continues to find new ways to grow the UCM program.”
