The University of West Georgia’s Townsend Center for the Performing Arts presents The Jason Bishop Show on Friday, December 7 at 7:30 P.M. Jason Bishop, America's Hottest Illusionist, will amaze you with incredible feats guaranteed to give you chills and thrills as you ask, “How did he do that?” One moment Bishop will have a person passing through his body and the next moment a goldfish will appear from nowhere. The Jason Bishop Show is the most dynamic illusion show touring the United States. The show features exclusive grand illusions, award winning sleight-of-hand and "close-up" magic that is captured live and projected onto LCD screens.
A beautiful lady will rise a dozen feet into the air and just float there, hovering with no means of support. All of a sudden the young man who sent her up in the air will soar up to meet her and both are suspended. This rare illusion is called the "double levitation." Bishop is the only illusionist in America performing it, as well as the Plasma Illusion and Op-Art.
No other touring illusionist showcases such a diverse array of talent and technique. The show is delivered with a totally modern energy and an outstanding rock and pop soundtrack. The show is surprisingly funny and truly magical. Bishop focuses on entertaining audiences with one remarkable illusion after another, each performed with world-class precision. Bishop touches audiences with a snow filled theatre, intriguing lighting, engaging audience participation and countless costume changes. Each performance is an unforgettable experience.
Bishop is an international award-winning illusionist, the youngest person to win the Magician's Alliance of Eastern States Stage Award and one of the youngest people to compete in the Society of American Magicians World-Class competition. Bishop's interest in magic ran throughout his youth, truly taking shape in his mid-teens. While in college, Jason studied theatre and then went on the road performing at resorts, amusement parks and theatres. Over time, he grew his show larger and more sophisticated. In 2007, his peers recognized Bishop with the prestigious “Jack Gwynne award for Excellence in Presentation.” The previous year college campuses voted him the “Best Performing Artist of the Year.”
Jason Bishop’s beautiful assistant, Kim Hess, is an indispensable part of the show. From performing illusions with Jason to assisting audience members, Kim is a vital part of the show’s success. Kim has studied dance, gymnastics, competitive cheerleading and baton twirling. Among her awards are the first place trophies from the National and World Baton Conferences held at Notre Dame University. With her fun and warm personality, her striking looks and considerable talent, Kim is an irreplaceable member of the team.
Jason has entertained celebrities like Chris Penn and MTV’s Bam Margera, who after seeing a performance said, "Jason Bishop is the best magician I've ever seen." Bishop's combination of modern costuming and music, fast paced illusions, sleight of hand and audience participation has landed him in several notable venues, including Norwegian Cruise lines, Caroline's on Broadway and the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City. His performance abilities have led him from New Mexico to Maine and Florida to New York, as well as every state in-between. Take it from Carolyn Brode of the Gorton Performing Arts Center in Lake Forest, Illinois, “a huge success! People were talking about this show for days and days after the performance!
Spark your curiosity and thrill the child within when you join us for a night of breathtaking illusion!
