UWG Hosts Inaugural SAS Day

Friday, March 8, 2013

The Richards College of Business Economics Department will host its inaugural SAS Day on Tuesday, March 12. The event will showcase the university’s new SAS certificate. SAS is the world’s largest analytic software company and is used by more than 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies. UWG’s SAS certificate program is one of only eight in the nation, and it is the only one in existence that focuses on Econometrics and Business Analytics. SAS Day will start at 8:30 a.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom 108.3.

SAS Day will begin with a networking coffee and breakfast session. At 9:30 a.m., Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research Dr. William “Joey” Smith will introduce the new certificate program. Kenneth Sanford, SAS econometric evangelist for Advanced Analytics, will deliver the keynote address at 9:45 a.m. Other events include a panel discussion at 10:45 a.m., student research presentations at 11:15 a.m., and a networking lunch at 12 p.m.

The SAS Institute has invited SAS users from the Atlanta, Birmingham and Chattanooga area market places to be included in SAS Day. The event will introduce UWG students to SAS experts in the region, allow them to begin building their professional network and give them a look at real-world careers available to them in analytics.
