What would Aristotle do? The Philosophy Department is resurrecting several brilliant philosophers for its 13th Annual Meeting of the Minds. Guests include Aristotle, Mary Wollstonecraft, Friedrich Nietzsche and others, all portrayed by talented philosophy students. Students, faculty and community members are invited to watch these great minds in action at Kathy Cashen Hall on Wednesday, March 27. This event begins at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
This year’s topic is “Is There Meaning in Human Existence?” The panel discussion will feature Alex Richardson as Aristotle, Carine LaFortune as Boethius, Savannah Grizzard as Mary Wollstonecraft, Joshua Moore as Friedrich Nietzsche, and Lindy Oller as Simone DeBeauvoir. Students Annthony Duffy and Amy Allen Hayes direct this year’s event, and Caroline Money will serve as the moderator.
The 2012 Meeting of the Minds featured the question “What is the Best Form of Government?” with discussion by Plato, John Locke, Karl Marx, John Rawls and Martha Nussbaum. For more information on the 2013 Meeting of the Minds, please visit the UWG Philosophy Program website.
