The Center for Diversity and Inclusion is pleased to announce the annual Older American Sock Drive. This year’s drive, themed “Unleash the Power of Age,” is in conjunction with Older American Month, celebrated since 1963. The drive will be open until April 26 in Row Hall room 217 and the campus mail room.
With hopes of meeting this year’s goal of obtaining 500 new pairs of socks, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to donate as soon as possible. At the end of April, all socks will be donated to local nursing homes in Carroll and Haralson Counties during the month of May.
One in every eight or 13.1% of the population is an older American, defined as 65 and over, and there are an estimated 53,364 centenarians in the United States today.
The drive is co-sponsored by The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Pan Hellenic Council, Black Student Alliance, the Interfraternity Council and Student Government Association.
