The Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) will host its second Multicultural Book Discussion on Friday, April 5, at Noon in Row Hall 212. The feature book, “The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros, will be used in the discussion led by Dr. Gary Van Valen, Associate Professor of History.
The highly acclaimed novel is a coming-of-age story about a young Latina girl looking to escape her confining settings in search for a better and more fulfilling life.
“The Multicultural Book Discussion is designed to promote intercultural communication, education and awareness through the reading of various books that shed knowledge about disparate cultures,” said Deirdre Rouse, Director for the CDI.
Two copies of the “The House on Mango Street” are available for checkout at the CDI’s Multicultural Center, located in Row Hall Room 212.
