UWG Celebrates Asian Pacific Heritage Month

Monday, April 8, 2013

UWG’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion will celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month with special guest speaker Li Wong. His presentation, “Uniting Asian American Pacific Islanders Through Media and Heritage,” will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 on the first floor of Ingram Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Wong is the editor of the Georgia Asian Times and co-founder of the Atlanta Asian Film Festival. He was also listed by the GAT as one of the “25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia.”

The CDI has a long history with the Atlanta Asian Film Festival, even co-sponsoring them in 2010 and 2011. Many professors will offer extra credit to students who attend this program.

The purpose of the CDI is, through a variety of programs, initiatives and collaborations, to work to reinforce and increase the campus' appreciation of and sensitivity to issues related to diversity. For questions or concerns, please contact the CDI at 678-839-5400 or www.westga.edu/diversity.
