Honors Convocation Recognizes Scholastic Achievement

Thursday, April 11, 2013

The 2013 Honors Convocation at the University of West Georgia recognized students from all colleges and departments for their outstanding academic achievement. Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, UWG President, presented the awards.

In addition to the presentation of awards, guests were entertained with a music segment including the UWG Chamber Singers, UWG Trombone Quartet, a piece by pianist and student Andrea Culpepper, and the UWG Opera Workshop. Student Mackenzie Regier performed a creative reading.

After the music presentation, Michael Bearden, President of the Student Honors Council, introduced the winner for the 2013 Dr. Donald R. Wagner Honors Faculty of the Year Award, named for the founding dean of the UWG Honors College. “The Honors College is grateful for all of the exceptional faculty that offer their time, expertise and energy to inspire and challenge our honors students,” he said. He went on to say that this year’s winner embodies all of these attributes, and that the winner “truly loves to teach” and “uses relevant examples to make it easy for everyone to understand the lesson.” The 2013 Dr. Donald R.
