On April 13, UWG students will return to the 2013 “Print Big!,” one of Atlanta’s most unusual art events. “Print Big!” unites students from ten local high schools and colleges to celebrate the art of printmaking. Atlanta Printmakers Studio, a non-profit organization, hosts this annual event.
Students from University of West Georgia, Kennesaw State University, Savannah College of Art and Design and several other colleges and high schools will create fabric prints measuring 8 feet by 4 feet. To transfer such large prints to the fabric, a steamroller will ride over them while the attendees watch.
UWG has a special connection to “Print Big!” and its sponsor, Atlanta Printmakers Studio. Stephanie Smith, who was the president of APS for the first five years of its existence, is a lecturer and gallery coordinator at UWG’s Department of Art.
