Under the direction of Dr. Daniel F. Bakos, the University of West Georgia Jazz Ensemble will host renowned jazz trumpeter Marvin Stamm as part of its 28th Annual Sunbelt Jazz Festival. The event will be held at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. and is sponsored by The Community Foundation of West Georgia and the Carroll Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout his distinguished career, Stamm has been praised for both the art and craft of trumpet playing. He has performed with the likes of Kenton’s orchestra, the Thad Jones Jazz Orchestra, the Duke Pearson Big Band and Benny Goodman. He has also toured with Frank Sinatra and recorded five albums. As Leonard Feather aptly stated, "Stamm is an accomplished performer whose technical skill is used as a means to original ends."
Tickets can be purchased at the venue, via phone at 678-839-4722, or online at www.townsendcenter.org. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and military and $8 for children.
