Retiring President Keynotes Largest Graduation in UWG History

The University of West Georgia hosted its 2013 spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, April 27, at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the UWG Coliseum. Retiring President Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna gave his final keynote address as university president for both ceremonies to over 1,000 graduates, the largest recorded ceremony in UWG history.

Graduates from the College of Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics and the Richards College of Business received their degrees at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony. The 2 p.m. ceremony included graduates from the College of Education, College of Arts and Humanities and the School of Nursing.

Approximately 842 undergraduates and 240 graduate students earned the right to walk across the stage to receive their degrees.

Under Sethna’s presidency, there have been 32,700 degrees and 90 doctorate degrees awarded.
