The University of West Georgia will be featured this weekend in the “Coolest Campus” segment of Georgia Traveler, a Georgia Public Broadcasting production. The episode, titled “Strides and Stallions,” will premiere on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. followed by an encore on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at 7:00 p.m.
Georgia Traveler host Ashley Mengwasser along with a video crew visited Carrollton in August 2013 to shoot the upcoming episode. The crew videoed a great deal of the UWG campus and the Carrollton community, including a portion of the Howl for UWG project and the University of West Georgia Observatory.
“We are delighted to be featured in an upcoming episode of Georgia Public Broadcasting’s travel series, Georgia Traveler, as a part of the "coolest campus" segment,” said Jami Bower, associate vice president of communications and marketing at UWG. “At UWG, we continue to do amazing things through our pursuit of scholarly achievement, creative expression and service to humanity. Georgia Traveler provides an ideal forum for highlighting these accomplishments and for showcasing our vibrant campus, community and student life.”
The “Strides and Stallions” episode will also feature the team of Sea Kayak Georgia at Tybee Island, Ga., Paradise Arabian horses in LaFayette, Ga., the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon, Ga., and the Southern Cross Guest Ranch in Madison, Ga. In prior episodes this season, Georgia Traveler has featured University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University.
According to the Georgia Public Broadcasting website, Georgia Traveler captures the “luxuries, wonders and hidden destinations of Georgia.” Georgia Traveler is produced in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
