2010 Great Decisions Series Hosts UWG Professor

The 2010 Great Decisions Series continues on Thursday, February 18, at 7 p.m. with guest moderator Dr. John Fuller in the Tracy Stallings Community Center. The League of Women Voters-Carroll County/Carrollton and the Carrollton Rotary Club co-sponsor the Decision Series.

The 2010 Great Decisions Series continues on Thursday, February 18, at 7 p.m. with guest moderator Dr. John Fuller in the Tracy Stallings Community Center. The League of Women Voters-Carroll County/Carrollton and the Carrollton Rotary Club co-sponsor the Decision Series. Fuller, professor of criminology at the University of West Georgia, will present a lecture on Global Crime. Fuller has taught at UWG since 1981and created and maintains a blog titled Peacemaking and Crime at http://peacemakingandcrime.blogspot.com. The site reflects Fuller’s belief in nonviolence and social justice.

The criminologist is currently directing his interests in peacemaking criminology to the problems of terrorism. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Fuller is interested in exploring both personal and institutional strategies for the prevention and control of violence.

Topics of the lecture include high profile crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking of sex workers, drug trafficking, intellectual property theft and piracy of ships off the coast of Somalia.

Great Decisions Series is a two-month annual lecture series that feature programs on current foreign policy issues each Thursday evening through March 25. The series hosts outstanding scholars or practitioners in their fields.
