Federal Perkins Loan
This loan is awarded by The University of West Georgia to students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time. No repayments are due and no interest accrues until nine months after the student graduates, leaves the University, or ceases to be a half-time student. The simple interest rate is five percent. The minimum repayment is $40 per month, providing the entire loan can be repaid within ten years. A portion of the debt may be cancelled for teaching in certain communities or neighborhoods, or teaching in a Head Start or special education program.
