Intramural Sports Official


  • Provide extraordinary customer service 
  • Provide general  information about ImSport 
  • Ensure departmental policies and procedures are being followed at all times
  • Attend all training workshops as assigned
  • Be knowledgeable and accountable of Intramural Sports rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Serve as primary customer service representative at activity site
  • Representing Intramural Sports in an exemplary manner
  • Checking participants’ eligibility/I.D. cards and Officiating games
  • Issuing intramural equipment to participants or other Officials
  • Attending officials’ training sessions for appropriate sports – be able to officiate at least one sport
  • Showing ability to adjust to an ever changing work environmentPerform other duties as assigned


  • Must be teachable and show a willingness to learn
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be willing to work assigned hours typically 5 p.m. 11:00PM (Sunday – Thursday)
  • Adhere to Departmental Dress Code
  • Attend all mandatory Officials training sessions and or staff meetings
  • Arrive to work on time and stay for the entire scheduled shift
  • Be knowledgeable of University Recreation policies and procedures and able to enforce policies in a respectful manner to participants
  • Be responsible for issued equipment, whether it be game equipment, officiating equipment and/or staff equipment      
  • Inform all participants of all policies and procedures when necessary
  • Check fields/courts before every shift pick up trash and report any maintenance problems to an Intramural Sports Supervisor, prior to the beginning of any game and/or activity and correct problem if possible
  • Set up & take down relevant equipment for fields/courts for intramural games and/or activities
  • If you are participating in an intramural game and/or activity, be a model participant
  • Show proper ID, display good sportsmanship, and set a good example that other participants can follow in accordance with the UREC Code of Conduct
  • Evaluate sportsmanship for individuals and teams, acknowledging the negative and positive sportsmanship exhibited by individuals and teams during and after a game and/or activity
  • Keep score and record and report any major injuries or incidents

HOURS: 8 - 12 hours/week

SALARY: Starting at $8.00/hr.
