Vice President for Academic Affairs

photoThe Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for oversight of the academic programs and policies of the university.  In that capacity, the office provides a variety of support services to individual colleges, faculty and students, including operation of the university’s technology system(s), learning resources, testing and other learning support services, faculty development opportunities, assistance for faculty pursuing external funding, certain aspects of enrollment management, and collaboration on a number of initiatives to improve student success. 

In addition to managing the budget, the VPAA has approval responsibility for all faculty personnel actions and final approval authority for curriculum changes.  Positions reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs are the deans for the College of Arts and Sciences, Richards College of Business, College of Education, the Honors College, and the Graduate School.  The directors of the University Libraries, Information Technology Services, Continuing Education, Learning Support, International Programs, Special Programs, and Sponsored Operations also report to the VPAA.

The office also serves a the  point of contact for external constituents on issues related to academic affairs such as the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and other accrediting bodies, and certain individuals and groups in the community.
