University Advancement
The Division of University Advancement (UA) works to secure the support and financial resources needed to create a dynamic environment for UWG students – an environment that supports the pursuit of scholarly achievement, creative expression and service to humanity.
We believe that the strongest, most enlightened universities are created when varying perspectives, experiences and abilities are brought together. We actively promote the exchange of talents, ideas and resources between alumni, students, parents, friends, faculty, administration and the community.
We encourage each member of our extended university community to celebrate his or her connection to UWG by:
- Reading and contributing to our publications
- Advocating on our behalf
- Attending our community events
- Becoming a Wolves fan
- Supporting the university through charitable giving
UA consists of four departments:

Development and Alumni Relations fosters relationships. It encourages alumni to remain active members of the UWG family through involvement, communication and mentoring. It also provides UWG friends and alumni the opportunity to change lives through giving.
- University Communications and Marketing cultivates awareness. It develops innovative, engaging communications designed to increase the public’s awareness of the university and generate interest in and enthusiasm for UWG’s people, culture and programs.
- UWG Athletics champions spirit. It works to encourage and support the success of our student athletes in all facets of their UWG experience: academic, athletic and social. It also seeks to inspire the university and local communities by providing exciting, competitive-level teams and events.
- Special Events stimulates involvement. It plans, coordinates and implements on-campus special events that provide entertainment, awareness and/or education. These events strengthen the relationships between university constituencies and also between the university and the local community.
UA also coordinates efforts to secure support for the university's legislative agenda through our UWG Advocates program. This program works to bring awareness of UWG’s programs and accomplishments to the media and to Georgia’s elected officials. It also advances the interests of UWG and of higher education when important laws and decisions are made.
