International Admissions

International applicants to UWG/Academy must do the following:

  1. Complete an Academy application.
  2. Complete a UWG International Application
  3. Submit a $30.00 US non-refundable application fee with your application.
  4. Submit official SAT or ACT and TOEFLor IELTS scores
  5. Submit official secondary school records translated into English.
  6. Have a foreign credential evaluation of secondary education records. The Academy recommends Josef Silny & Associates, (305) 273-1616.
  7. Complete a financial certificate, including all requested signatures (included in the UWG International Application)
  8. Submit an official letter of deposit from each sponsor's bank stating a dollar amount of readily available deposits in U.S. currency (see UWG Application)
  9. Submit a completed Certificate of Immunization (included in the UWG International Application)

Upon acceptance, an $85.00 international orientation fee will be required. All international students enrolling for Fall 2012 must arrive on campus before classes begin in August to attend this orientation. International students must also purchase health insurance, which is included on students' bills after acceptance and registration in classes. The fee for this insurance is about $50.00 per month, payable in advance. For students interested in Fall 2012, the deadline for receipt of all these documents is June 1, 2012. International students will not be accepted to begin the Academy during a Spring semester.

The Advanced Academy requires applicants to submit minimum exam scores as follows:

While at the Academy, international students earn college credit that is reflected on University of West Georgia transcripts. They are not eligible to receive a high school diploma. If an international student chooses to pursue a degree at an institution other than UWG, he/she can apply to that institution as a Transfer Student.
