Advanced Academy R.A.'s

Allyson Musciano-Howard
Senior Resident Advisor
My name is Allyson Musciano-Howard, and I am a senior majoring in biology. With biology, I hope to get accepted into a Physician's Assistant Program. I live about an hour and a half away from the Academy in Fayetteville, Georgia. I'm going on my third year as a Resident Assistant, and this year I will be the Senior Resident Assistant. When I was a freshman, I did not have a good model for the residence life system, so I decided to become an RA to be that positive influence. One thing that attracted me to Gunn was this idea of community. I love the community in Gunn Hall, and I am looking forward to this year. Even though at the end of this year I wont be in Gunn any longer, I will always remember it. I have learned and experienced many new things while in Gunn, and I look forward to the many things to come this year.

Amanda Wilson
Resident Advisor
My name is Amanda Wilson and I was born and raised in Bremen, GA. I am a Biology Major and a French Minor. After my undergraduate graduation, my plans include enlisting in the Peace Corps and going to graduate school for a degree in Genetics. I am a recent graduate from the Advanced Academy and this is my first year as a Resident Assistant. I am looking forward to a promising and rewarding year working with the Academy.

Armando Ramos
Resident Advisor
My name is Armando Ramos. I originally come from El Salvador, but my current home is in Dallas, GA. I joined the Advanced Academy for the '07-'08 school year, and my experience was phenomenal. Because I was very excited about the program and the Gunn Hall's community, I decided to become an RA and take an active roll within the hall's walls. So far my job as an RA has been one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can imagine. I enjoy every single day, and wake up ready to face the day ahead of me.

Crystal Stephens
Resident Advisor
I'm going into my 2nd year of being a Gunn Hall RA and I enjoy building community within the building. I think that's reflected on the progress that all Academy RA's have strived for and that can be seen by all the "old-Academites" who come back to visit! I was President of my Hall Council my freshman year and I have held positions as an Excel Center Certified Mentor, HOPE Scholarship Expert, Phi Sigma Pi Fraternity Member, Community Developer of the Year for 2007-2008 and other privileged titles. My most valued position is being an RA, I have learned so much through my residents and they never cease to amaze me.

Jeremy Wright
Resident Advisor
My name is Jeremy Wright. I am now a Sophomore here at the University of West Georgia. I am a Middle Grades Education Major, focusing on Math And Science. This is my first year as an RA, and I am pumped! I became an RA at Gunn Hall because I was so drawn to this community. I completely love everything about this building and its residents, especially how much like a family the people involved with this program become. I am stoked about being part of this family.

Jody Street
Resident Advisor
My name is Jody Street and I'm from Dallas, Georgia. I'm a junior majoring in Biology. I came to the Academy for my senior year (2007-2008) of high school. I became very active in the Academy program and the University of West Georgia, joining my hall council and representing my hall in the Association of Residence Hall Councils. I'm proud to say that I also won the Academy Leadership Award for 2008, awarded annually to two students who the resident assistant staff votes for due to a display of good community and leadership skills. For the last two academic years I've lived and worked in Gunn Hall as a student assistant, helping both the students and the resident assistants. Although I could have left Gunn Hall once I graduated, the experience was so great that I knew I wanted to stick around. I also served the last academic year as the Academy Residence Coordinator's assistant. However, I still believed I could do more for the Academy. I decided to apply to be a resident assistant for Gunn Hall, and here I am! Here's to 2009-2010!

Joette Crews
Resident Advisor
My name is Joette Crews and I am from Douglasville, GA. I am a Junior majoring in Sociology with a minor in Business Marketing. I graduated from the Academy two years ago and loved it so much that I came back first as an honor student living in Gunn Hall and now as a resident assistant determined to make others experience as good as mine. I am excited as this will be my first year as a resident assistant and I am already having fun.

Shayna Jackson
Resident Advisor
I'm Shayna Jackson, and I'm from Dallas, Georgia. I'm majoring in History and getting Secondary Education Certification. The 2009-2010 school year is my fourth year at the University of West Georgia, and my second year as a Resident Assistant in Gunn Hall. I came to the Advanced Academy in 2006 when I was sixteen and a junior in college. After two years in Gunn Hall, I still wanted to be a part of the Academy community. And as much as I enjoyed being an Academy student, I like being a Gunn Hall RA even more.

Zachary Williams
Resident Advisor
Throughout my freshman year I had thoughts about becoming a Resident Assistant sometime in the future. I distinctly remember during my second semester I was having trouble in my general chemistry class and through this I got to know the academy very well. One of the Academy students by the name of Lindley Curtis offered her services as a tutor to me and invited me to a study session with some of the other Academy residents that were in the same class as her and I. From that night on I was a pretty regular figure in the residence hall not only because I needed help with my studies, but because I became involved in other activities that went on in the building including the intramural soccer team and the ever so famous Decathlon weekend. So naturally with all of the positive experiences I received that year I decided to apply to be an RA in Gunn and the rest is history. My feelings about the job since I have started are the same yet better as any other good job one could have. It has its ups and downs, but the academy is mostly ups and very few downs.
