UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA HONORS COLLEGE

The Honors College offers much more than courses. The Honors House provides a central location for most Honors activities. Here, students enjoy their own lounge, study area, and seminar room and have access to their own computers. The lounge is a place where students meet to share and explore ideas or simply relax. Students in the College say that they greatly benefit from the information and practical advice given them by other Honors students on courses, classes, and extracurricular activities.

In recent years, Honors College students have visited Washington, D.C., Chicago, and New York as part of their courses. They have also participated in meetings of the Model United Nations with students from other colleges and universities in the Southeast. Occasionally, they go to Atlanta as a group to have dinner and see a play, film, or concert.

Honors students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as student government, performing arts, and athletics. Open only to Honors students, the Student Honors Council helps plan and participates in the annual Honors Convocation. The Student Honors Council also publishes a newsletter.
