The BFA degree is a professional degree. This degree is required by most graduate schools and by professionals hiring for creative careers. This degree emphasizes specialization in a particular medium so students must declare an area of concentration by the end of their 3rd semester. (The exception to this rule is in Art Education, where students are trained to have a broad but basic understanding of all traditional art media). The BFA also requires more credit hours for completion.
