Recent UWG Department of Art Community Activities include Art Incend,
Carve on the Quad, Sculpture's "Card Board Boat Race" and the
"Good Things Come in Small Packages" Art Auction...
Art Incend is
a week long fall event where sculpture students prepare for a night
time iron pour and ceramics students work around the clock firing work
in the Department's anagama kiln. For more info about this event, contact David
Collins or Kevin Rutherford.
Carve on the Quad is
a pumpkin carving and painting contest that coincides with Art Incend
and the night time iron pour. The 2009 event had over 180 pumpkins
on display. Carve on the Quad is in conjunction with Residence Life's "Safe Treat" trick-or-treating
event for community kids. For more information about this event,
contact Clint
Samples or Stephanie Smith.
The Card
Board Boat Race is
a group assignment in Kevin Rutherford's Sculpture I class. Each group
is required to construct a boat out of card board only. The race is held
at Lake Carroll in Carrollton. For more information about this event, contact Kevin
Rutherford.
"Good
Things Come in Small Packages" is an

the exhibition
features work by faculty, students and art alumni. The exhibition
is held in the Bobick Gallery which is located on the first floor
of the Humanities Building. Proceeds from the event help support
the gallery and visiting artist series. For more information about
