GRAPHIC DESIGN-Tenure Track Position Announcement

The Department of Art of the University of West Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Graphic Design beginning fall semester, August 2012. The ideal candidate will have an MFA in graphic design or related discipline, skills in traditional design principles, typography, print design, interactive/web design, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, experience in curriculum development, and is engaged in creative design research.

Industry experience strongly desirable. A fluency in Mac OS, Adobe CS, and industry-standard print and web design software is required. The position includes teaching typography, print and web design, advising students, contributing to the internship program and promoting the department at all levels, and co-managing a computer lab, equipment, inventory, ordering, and work-study students. We are seeking an educator who will encourage conceptual and aesthetic innovation through process development in a liberal arts environment, while teaching students about practical client and industry needs.

Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years teaching experience beyond graduate level. The candidate must demonstrate potential for excellence in scholarship and teaching at all levels of the curriculum.  Submit letter of interest, curriculum vitae, artist statement, teaching philosophy, CD, DVD or online portfolio of 20 images of recent work, and 20 images of student works, sample syllabi, official graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and 3 letters of recommendation.
