BFA in Art: Studio Areas
Studio areas prepare students to develop comprehensive knowledge of the elements, principles, and vocabulary of two and three-dimensional visual arts while increasing their ability to, analyze, communicate and employ their knowledge. Studio courses provide opportunities to development knowledge and understanding of various concepts, skills, technical processes, and the sensitivities needed to develop works of art that express the individual visions on our times.
Faculty in all studio areas introduce students to the major historical
accomplishments and contemporary issues within each field, through studio
discussions, critics, and individual meeting. Studio curriculum encourages
students to be active in artistic pursuits and to be aware of our larger
world. The faculty believes that a student's active participation is crucial
for individual investigation, conceptualization and production of creative
artworks that are relevant and distinctive. After completing the requisite art courses, students choose a concentration in either graphic design, interior design, ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture. Cross disciplinary practice is also encouraged.
