Dr. Gunnels has offered courses ranging from Elementary Spanish to seminars on Latin American novels, as well as courses on culture and civilization of both Latin America and Spain. Current interests include ecocritical approaches to animals and culture, language theory, and connections between postcolonial literatures and representations of the natural world in Latin America and Africa. Additionally, Dr. Gunnels has recently published and is presenting this fall on the topic of distance education pedagogy as it applies to second language acquisition.
