What is saturation? What is brightness? What does the gain control on a camera do? What do smear and moiré refer to? What is a desirable signal-to-noise ratio? How does HDTV differ from standard television (consider aspect ratio and resolution)? What is the video imaging process (consider light and electric energy)? Chapter 4.1-Know the following terms and their definitions: Aperture Which permits more light, a fast lens or slow lens? Understand zoom range. What is the relationship between zooming and the resulting focal length? What does a higher f-stop do? A lower f-stop? What 3 factors determine the depth of field of a field of view? Be prepared for application questions that ask things like how a subject would look if you used a wide-angle lens to shoot down from a tall building, or which lens should you use to create grossly distorted facial features. What should be done to the mounting head when you leave a camera unattended? What is wedge mount used for? What is a jib arm and how is it used? What is an automated pedestal and when is used? Chapter 8.1-Know the following terms and their definitions: Silhouette What is three-point (or triangle) lighting? What is the basic function of the key light? How can you achieve optimal back lighting? Which is the relationship between fill light and falloff? What is the best way to light a chroma-key background? What is the best light for shooting outdoors? Chapter 16.1 and 16.2-Know the following terms and their definitions: Actor Know the duties of the following production personnel: Floor manager What is the most widely used makeup for foundation? What type of foundation should be used to cover major skin blemishes? What counteracts heavy five oclock shadow? High-color temperature lighting requires what type of makeup colors? When applying makeup what should the lighting conditions be? What color should you avoid when working with chroma key? What is the problem with highly contrasting stripes or checkered patterns on camera? What is the role of the director? As talent, who do you call to confirm your show schedule? What is the function of the producer? Who is ultimately responsible for the look and sound of a show? What is the major role of the news producer? As a TV performer, how should you visualize your audience? From who do you, as talent, take your opening cue? How should you, as talent, react to the floor managers cues?
