Research Interests:

I conduct research in the area of surface chemistry.  Many of the processes that occur in nature are carried out on surfaces: corrosion, photosynthesis, enzyme activity, to name a few.  The area of surface chemistry that interests me the most is the field of catalysis.  A typical example of a surface catalyst is the catalytic converter in your automobile that removes most of the carbon monoxide from the engine exhausts.  The mechanism of how this is done is common to many other surface catalysis.  This mechanism of reaction is what I strive to study and understand.
