special thanks to Dr. Anne Gaquere-Parker, the department's Safety
Manager, for successfully leading the department through our recent EPA
safety inspection with flying colors!

Congratulations to our newest professor, Dr. Douglas Stuart, in his
recent success. The Undergraduate Analytical Research Program of
the Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburg has recently accepted
his proposal "Fundamental Studies of Surface Enhanced Ramen Scattering (SERS)
using Aerosolized Substrates" for $10,000.

Well Done! Dr. Sharmistha Basu-Dutt has successfully
acquired two educational grants, "High School Chemistry Laboratory:
A Contextual and Inquiry-Based Teaching Approach" and "Experiences in
Inquiry for K-2nd Grade Elementary Teachers", Teacher Quality Higher
Education Program, in the amounts of $37,441 and $33,313 respectively.
