State-of-the-Art Survey Lab Opens

Faculty in the Department of Sociology and Criminology celebrated its long awaited opening of a state-of-the-art Survey Research Lab in late fall with a community and campus open house. Along with the University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University, UWG is one of only three institutions in the state to offer the services of a survey research lab.

The lab will be accessible to faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and organizations in the community, said Dr. Jane McCandless, professor and chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminology. MORE

With this first online issue, the Campus Chronicle makes the transition from print to Web-based publication. The new format allows the newsletter to broaden its communications offerings for faculty and staff of UWG.

Cormican Receives National Recognition

cormican receives national recognitionDr. Muriel Cormican, associate professor of German at the University of West Georgia, received national recognition from the College Board and the Educational Policy Improvement Center.

Her course “German Composition” was identified as one of the top 10 German courses in the nation in a study of various higher education courses conducted by the organization. MORE

Events of Note

Everyone is invited to the annual International Night on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. in the Food Services Building (Z-6). Admission is $5 for UWG students, $7 for children under 12 and $8 for the community, including faculty and staff.

The EXCEL Center for Academic Excellence will hold its ninth annual Mardi Gras for Majors on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. in the TLC Atrium.
