Dickey Signs New Recruits

Few states, if any, can match the quality of high school football in Georgia. With that in mind, new football coach Daryl Dickey put his focus on home state talent for his first University of West Georgia Wolves signing class.

New recruits include players from Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

UWG and the Department of Athletics announce the signing of 14 high school players to National Letters of Intent. Of the group, 12 excel in Georgia high school football programs.

“First I want to say how much we appreciate the support we have received, in such a short time, from the high school coaches in this state,” said Dickey. “We’re excited for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of coaches and players.”

The list of recruits includes Eric Sheker of Clarkesville, Habersham Central High; Jimmile Freeman and Todd Kidd of Stockbridge, Stockbridge High; Jordan Ritchey of Covington, Eastside High; Terrance Turman of Elberton, Elbert County; Drew Payne of Loganville, Loganville High; Brandon Clark of Newnan, Newnan High; Nick Popiel of Peachtree City, McIntosh High; Trevion Hudson and James McGee of Columbus, Hardaway High; Will Jones of Leesburg, Lee County High; Eric Josovitz of Norcross High, Nocross High; Sean Beeler of Knoxville, TN, Catholic High; and Willie Pitts of Tallahassee, FL, Lincoln High.

“We have a great opportunity at this university,” said Dickey. “We have gotten outstanding support from the community and the university since we’ve been here.”

Dickey and his staff are still busy in the recruiting process and more students are expected to sign within the coming days and weeks.
