Dickey Signs New Recruits
Few states, if any, can match the quality of high school football in Georgia. With that in mind, new football coach Daryl Dickey put his focus on home state talent for his first University of West Georgia Wolves signing class. MORE
Two New Graduate Degrees Approved
The University of West Georgia received the Board of Regents approval for two new graduate degree programs. The BOR approved a new Master of Science in Mathematics with Options in Teaching and Applied Mathematics and the establishment of an External Specialist in Education degree with a major in media offered through multiple technologies. MLK Lecture Series Features Dyson
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series is coming to UWG with guest speaker Dr. Michael Eric Dyson on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. MORE
Construction Update on Campus
Spring is in the air but more importantly on the UWG campus, the sound of construction is in the air! The Health and Wellness Center is taking shape as the trusses for the arena went in last week. According to Elsa Pena, campus architect, the building has been put on a fast track in order for occupancy to begin in January 2009. MORE
Campus Raises Funds for Friend
Faculty, staff and students are joining together to help raise funds for an Advanced Academy student who recently was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Last week, Academy students voted unanimously to donate all of the proceeds from their annual fundraiser, St. Paddy’s Day Café, to the family’s medical expenses and an account has been opened at the Gilmer County Bank for donations. May Commencement Ceremony Set
West Georgia will conduct four spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 10. The Registrar’s Office estimates that 575 undergraduates and 110 graduate students will walk down the aisle to receive a diploma. MORE
