Donated Book to Ingram Library Adds Volumes to Shelves

Dr. Javier Hasbun, professor of physics, donated a copy of his book titled “Classical Mechanics with MATLAB Applications,” to the Ingram Library.

Dr. Javier Hasbun, professor of physics, donated a copy of his book titled “Classical Mechanics with MATLAB Applications,” to the Ingram Library. The first of its kind, the textbook is suitable for upper level classical physics courses and combines traditional analytical methods with modern computational approaches. The text is designed to enhance a student’s understanding of the subject by adding the capability to visualize important aspects of natural phenomena. Authors who donate their much loved and researched published works have a photo taken with Professor and Director of University Libraries Dr. Lorene Flanders, which is then used to publicize their work and the library.

Mo Music for the Madding Crowd

Hats off to ITS for acquiring an agreement to provide free and legal music downloads to students. Faculty and staff can benefit from this agreement also with two different contracts, one free and the other for $8.99 a month. Professors can subscribe to the service free of charge as long as they are using the downloaded music as part of their classroom curriculum. According to the site, the most downloaded music includes “Lollipop” by Little Wayne, “Sexy Can I Feat Yung Berg” by Ray J and “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis. To request a free classroom account, e-mail a request to Chris Utah at cutah@ruckus.com using your West Georgia e-mail account. Be sure to include the class title, a copy of the syllabus, the ending date of the class and how the Ruckus service will be used in the class. Staff and faculty not using the service for class may sign up for the service at $8.99 a month at Ruckus Network and enjoy unlimited music downloads.
