Alum Receives Woodruff Fellowship
University of West Georgia alumna Vicki White, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 2000 and a Master of Science degree in nursing in 2005, received a Woodruff Leadership Academy Fellowship from Emory University. MORE
UWG Receives Infrastructure Funding
Governor Sonny Perdue approved an appropriation of $1.9 million by the Georgia General Assembly in the 2009 state budget for road and bridge infrastructure to connect the current campus of the University of West Georgia to a gift of approximately 250 acres of land donated by the City of Carrollton. Impact Grant to Promote Science, Math Programs
The Alice Huffard Richards Fund granted $100,000 for one year for IMPACT (Improving Motivation, Performance and Attitudes of Children and Teachers) for Science and Mathematics. At the end of the first year, an evaluation will determine if the grant will be renewed for two-year cycles at $100,000 per year for a possible funding of up to $300,000. The grant will be administered through the Community Foundation of West Georgia. MORE
Pub and Print Receives Accolades
The Department of Publications and Printing, a division of University Advancement, won eight Print Excellence Awards in the state’s annual Printing Industry Association of Georgia competition. MORE
Faculty and Staff Honored
Service pins were awarded to faculty and staff in recognition of their years of service to West Georgia at the spring general faculty meeting in May. The annual awards for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and even 40 years of service are made possible by contributions to the University of West Georgia Foundation. MORE
COE Hosts Annual Learning Festival
