Marching Band Performs Annual Varsity Show
The University of West Georgia Marching Band, “The Sound That Lights the South,” will perform its annual indoor Varsity Show on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. The community is invited to experience all of the pageantry, visual effects and routines of this spectacular event.
The award-winning University of West Georgia Marching Band, “The Sound That Lights the South,” will perform its annual Varsity Show on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.
Unique to this year’s performance is the presentation. In addition to the performances, each section of the band has been challenged to present a visual and musical display. New dances, choreography, guard displays and sound effects will make this year’s presentation unlike any other.
Music from “The Red Hot Chili Peppers Show,” “The '80s Hair Band Show,” “The A Train” and the new “Senior Show” will also be performed.
The UWG Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Doug Overmier, associate professor of music and director of bands, has toured extensively internationally and throughout the United States. The band has been recognized for their musical excellence and exciting performances.
Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for senior citizens and free for all UWG faculty and students with ID cards. Tickets can be purchased at the Townsend Center Box office Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
