West Georgia Voices
We have heard from the Governor's Office via the University System Office, that we have a 9% budget cut for the current fiscal year (FY 2009) and 9.5% for next year (FY 2010). As you will recollect, this has been a moving target, with changes from a reasonable budget planned last April for FY 2009, to a 5% cut, a 6% cut, an 8% cut, and now a 9% cut. This represents a loss of almost five million dollars relative to our original FY 2009 budget which we presented to the Board last April and shared with you at that time.
There will be an optional-attendance open meeting on Tuesday, January 27, at 2:30 p.m., in the Hubbard Room to share with you our plans, and solicit your reactions and opinions about the challenges that face us.
Please know that we remain resolved to assure the long-term future of the University of West Georgia and its commitment to excellence. These challenges will test us, but we *will* prevail and succeed.
Thank you for all you do for our students and our University,
