Kieh Named New A&S Dean

The University of West Georgia will welcome a new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on July 1. Dr. George Klay Kieh, Jr. accepted the offer of dean this week and will replace Dr. Don Rice, who served as interim dean for two years. MORE

• The University of West Georgia's Association for Retired Faculty and Staff is beginning a new venture. ARFS will sponsor monthly programs at the Neva Lomason Public Library at 11 a.m. Retirees, current faculty and staff and community members are welcome to attend. • Information Technology Services has implemented a program to evaluate and recognize university employees who have excelled in such areas as providing
exceptional customer service, demonstrating exceptional leadership and recognizing faculty or staff who have shown IT Innovation in their classroom or within their unit. If you would like to nominate a co-worker for one of the above awards, please visit this webpage. The deadline for the 2009 candidates is April 15. • We are all so excited to have our Spring Commencement in the new coliseum! The date is May 9. We need volunteers to help with 9:00 a.m. ceremony and at the noon ceremony. Four people are needed for each.

For the 9:00 a.m. ceremony, you would need to arrive at 7:30 a.m. and can leave at 10:15 or 10:30 a.m. whenever the ceremony ends). For the 12:00 p.m. ceremony, you would need to arrive at 10:30 a.m. and can leave at 1:15 or 1:30 p.m. (whenever the ceremony ends). Please contact Danielle Tackett if you would like to help out.
