West Georgia Voices

To the Campus Community:

A new academic year brings changes to the university, one of which focuses on the yearly drive to generate support for student scholarships.

West Georgia VoicesThe Annual Fund campaign kicks off with events to invite the community, both on-campus and off, to back the university’s efforts.

Formerly known as A Day, the Annual Fund aims this year to boost its participation among faculty and staff. This year, Dr. Mary A. Hooper and Deirdre Haywood-Rouse will chair and co-chair the campaign.

For each of the past three years, UWG employees have given more than $100,000 to support student scholarships. This year, the Annual Fund has set a goal of $115,000 in faculty/staff contributions.

Additionally, the campaign hopes to garner 100 percent participation among faculty and staff members. Last year, 47 percent of employees contributed.

If each person who donated or pledged through payroll deduction continues to give, and everyone else finds a way to contribute, it would underscore the Annual Fund’s focus for this year, which is Our Collective Strength.

The Annual Fund returns to the tradition of giving UWG coffee mugs to honor each employee who makes a minimum gift of $10. Donors who give $100 or more will be placed in a drawing for two round trip airline tickets to any destination served by AirTran Airways, corporate sponsor of this year’s Annual Fund.

The drawings will take place in conjunction with UWG’s televised football game on Oct. 8.

Thank you for being willing to ensure that students who desire an education will be supported by the UWG community, reinforcing the message that “Education is Empowering!”

Sincerely,

Frank Pritchett, Associate Executive Director for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving
